The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor was recalling around 145,235 electric cars in the US because of a drive power issue.
In addition to select premium Genesis GV60, GV70, and G80 electrified models from model years 2022–2025, the recall covers specific IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 EVs.
According to the US car safety agency, broken integrated charging control units are likely to stop charging the 12-volt battery, which might cause the driving power to go out.
The NHTSA also stated that Hyundai dealers will give free software inspections, replacements, and updates for affected components and their fuses.
Previously, Hyundai recalled more than 34,000 cars because of a sunshade flaw that might cause it to suddenly close, endangering occupants.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that the 2024 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid models were impacted by the recall.
The problem arose from the rear sunshade switch knob on the overhead console, which could not have been completely recessed, causing the sunshade to unintentionally close and raising the risk of damage. Over 26,000 Santa Fe models and over 8,000 Santa Fe hybrids were among the impacted automobiles.
The defective knobs were replaced at no cost by Hyundai dealerships.
The second problem with Hyundai Santa Fe cars that year was this recall. Due to software issues affecting the gearbox control unit that might have caused the car to roll away when in park, the firm recalled more than 12,000 cars in July.
