It is anticipated that the uncertainty surrounding the 2025 International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy will persist because the timetable for the major tournament is likely to be delayed.
The reports also stated that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was not changing its position against a hybrid tournament concept, therefore it is doubtful that the event’s schedule will be revealed within the following day.
This comes as the PCB has been at war with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the latter’s alleged unwillingness to go to Pakistan for the highly anticipated event, which Pakistan is hosting in February and March of next year.
Following the PCB’s request for a copy of India’s written answer about the decision to skip the mega-event, the ICC formally demanded an official response from the BCCI for its denial.
The Indian board had earlier informed the international cricket body directly that it had decided not to participate.
In addition to the PCB’s position, the ICC’s problems have been exacerbated by broadcasters’ and commercial partners’ inability to accept a schedule that does not include a Pakistan-India match, which attracts a lot of spectators and hence brings in a lot of money.
Furthermore, they have threatened to take legal action if the event does not feature a matchup between the bitter rivals.
Reports claim that if the stakeholders are flexible, the timetable announcement might be made in a few days.
They said that stakeholders support organizing the event with unanimity.
The world cricket organization is working to find a solution in the interim until BCCI Secretary Jay Shah assumes leadership of the ICC on December 1.
