Indian Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has criticized CM Maryam Nawaz’s remarks about the pollution in Indian Punjab.
Bhagwant is known for his sharp humor and witty remarks. Recently, he has mocked Maryam’s comments on the smog issue in Lahore.
Previously Maryam said that she would write to Indian Punjab CM to discuss that the smog from India’s Punjab is making its way to Lahore.
Responding this comment Bhagwant said that Maryam should definitely write to him. “Even the government of Delhi says that Punjab is responsible for smog. It seems like our pollution is moving in a circle. I would tell Maryam Nawaz, ‘You can write a letter too”, he humorously remarked.
Bhagwant added that it is not the time to put blames on one another. “We should work to tackle this issue first”, he said.
Recently in Punjab the air quality is worsening day by day. According to Pakistan’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the origin of pollution is Indian Punjab.
Satellite imagery provided by NASA has also revealed that thousands of fires are burning in India’s Punjab where farmers burn crop stubble after harvest. The same thing is happening in Pakistan as well.
The burning of crop on both sides of the border is causing the formation of smog. Now, this situation has become a serious public health concern in both countries.
Overall both countries are making their efforts to find a long-term solution to this environmental issue.
