The Cabinet Division has declared a public holiday on November 9, to honor Pakistan’s national poet, Allama Iqbal.
As per the notification, all government offices, schools and institutions will remain closed on November 9.
Previously, the deputy commissioner of Kot Addu has declared a district-wide holiday on November 8, regarding the Thal Jeep Rally.
Thal Jeep Rally is an annual event that attracts spectators across the country, featuring exciting desert races and promoting regional tourism.
Separately, the Punjab Environment Department issued a notice of closing educational institutions in various districts across the province from November 7 to 17.
Following orders from the Director General of Punjab’s Environment Department, all schools, colleges, and other educational institutions, both public and private, will suspend in-person classes for grades up to Class XII and A Levels. This closure has been ordered in response of rising levels of smog in Punjab.
As per the notice all educational institutions can arrange online classes during this period to ensure uninterrupted education.
The measure applies to districts including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Narowal.
