Pakistani’s well know and star cueist Mohammad Asif has won the World Snooker Championship for the third time.
Asif won the IBSF World Snooker Championship by defeating Ali Ghareghozlou, the Asian champion from Iran, 5-3 in an exciting final.
Qatari reports claim that Mohammad Asif maintained his outstanding form in the 9-frame final, defeating his opponent and winning. Asif won the World Snooker Championship for the third time as a result of this achievement.
With his win, Asif also joins three-time World Snooker Championship winner Pankaj Advani of India.
Throughout the competition, the Pakistani cueist put on an incredible show, breaking the previous record with six hundred breaks. In a thrilling encounter, he defeated Michael Georgiou of Cyprus 5-3 to get to the final.
The 42-year-old Faisalabad native Mohammad Asif won the IBSF World Snooker Championship for the first time in 2012 and again in 2019.
Alamgir Sheikh, the chairman of the Pakistan Snooker and Billiards Association, and other authorities praised Mohammad Asif’s remarkable win and said it was a huge honor for Pakistan.
They said they hoped that Mohammad Asif’s third global championship will be acknowledged and awarded with awards, similar to Arshad Nadeem’s gold medal in the javelin throw at the Olympics in Paris.
