In a recent conversation on Ahmad Ali Butt’s podcast, Goher Mumtaz, founding member of the band Jal, revisited the circumstances surrounding Atif Aslam’s departure from the band two decades ago.
This topic, often discussed by fans, has long fueled curiosity about the relationship between the two musicians.
Goher addressed the challenges he faced after Atif left, explaining, “It was tough for me, personally. I believed that keeping emotions in check and ignoring outside opinions helped lessen the burden.”
He admitted to having to hold back his own feelings to maintain a positive image for fans who saw music as a passion.
Reflecting further, Goher shared that he regretted not opening up in the past, even as Atif spoke publicly about their split. “I wish I had spoken more openly back then,” he said, noting that both of them have now moved on, no longer holding the views they had in their younger years.
Goher also commented on Farhan Saeed’s departure from Jal, explaining that they continued to share a good bond.
He acknowledged that after years of success, Farhan was ready to explore other avenues, and Goher encouraged him to embrace Bollywood opportunities alongside his work with Jal.
“We all felt the need to look forward,” he concluded.
