Chinese hackers have reportedly hacked phones used by workers who are linked with the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris’s campaign.
As per American media reports Donald Trump and JD Vance, were also targeted by these hackers. However, this claim by Republican party has not yet verified.
“Officials are investigating whether any communications were accessed from Trump and Vance”, reports say.
Previously Republican presidential candidate Trump and his running mate Vance have claimed that their phones are being tapped by breach of Verizon’s phone systems, as per media reports.
Later campaign communications director Steven Cheung claimed Vice President Harris’s policies have encouraged China and Iran to interfere with US infrastructure to prevent Trump back to power.
On this claim a spokesperson from the Chinese embassy in Washington said that China strongly opposes cyber-attacks in all forms.
“The presidential elections are the personal matter of U.S. China has nothing to do with it”, the spokesperson added.
Earlier this year, US Justice Department charged three members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps for hacking phones of members of Trump’s election campaign.
Department accused these individuals to disrupt U.S coming election.
FBI and the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) took notice of these hacking attacks on
presidential candidates.
Officials are investigating the matter. However, the agencies have not yet identified the specific targets involved.
