Islamabad High Court (IHC) was informed that federation is to send a delegation to the United States for the repatriation of Dr. Afia Siddique.
During the recent hearing the Additional Attorney General shared this update with the court. He mentioned the government has a resolution to address the Dr. Siddiqui’s case with strong commitment.
Fawzia Siddiqui, sister of Afia, have filed this case for the repatriation of her sister.
Earlier a presidential letter was delivered to the U.S president Joe Biden, but he did not respond to this letter.
As per government plan the delegation will consist of former and current parliamentarians, senators, retired and active military officials, doctors, and Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui herself.
During the court hearing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also submitted a proposal for a Prisoner Transfer Agreement with the U.S. Court briefly reviewed this agreement.
Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ representative about the expected timeline for a response regarding the Prisoner Transfer Agreement. At this the representative replied that they would soon receive an answer from U.S officials.
Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui also requested the court to facilitate Aafia Siddiqui for a medical examination.
Fawzia and her family have requested that medical professionals from Pakistan be sent to examine Aafia Siddiqui.
