Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political committee had announced to boycott parliamentary committee aiming to elect the new Chief Justice of Pakistan.
PTI leaders hold a meeting to discuss about the constitutional amendments.
After the meeting PTI leader Sheikh Waqas Akram announced that no PTI members would attend the parliamentary meeting.
According to sources PTI planned to take action against those members who voted in favor of the 26th constitutional amendment. The committee decided to cancel the memberships of those who defied party policy.
PTI leaders have announced to issue show-cause notices to members who denies the party orders.
As per the committee decision the the future of these members in the party will depend on how they respond to the notices.
Later PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar declared that PTI members would be stay away from the parliamentary committee meeting as per the party’s decision.
The 12-member parliamentary committee meeting will held today to decide on the next Chief Justice of Pakistan. After the committee’s decision, the selected name will be sent to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and then to the president for final approval.
