Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif presided over a federal cabinet meeting on Friday, but it concluded without the proposed constitutional revisions being approved, according to reports.
In order to adopt the constitutional amendments, the federal cabinet met under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to details.
The sources stated that because the federal cabinet would convene again on Saturday, no decision has been taken about the constitutional changes.
Earlier, the long-awaited 26th constitutional amendment has bee officially approved by a parliamentary committee on Friday after extensive deliberations and consensus-building efforts.
The committee, led by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Syed Khursheed Shah, concluded its discussions, marking the end of negotiations aimed at finalizing the amendment.
On the preceding Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hosted a luncheon for government senators, during which key consultations took place.
According to Samaa, PM Shehbaz and former President Asif Ali Zardari also discussed the proposed constitutional changes during the meeting.
However, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman reiterated his opposition to the initial draft of the amendment.
