On October 11, 2024, actress Saba Qamar was named UNICEF’s first national ambassador for child rights in Pakistan.
In a heartfelt message on Instagram, Qamar shared her experience visiting Sujawal, where she spent time with children and women.
She wrote, “As a national ambassador, I’ve had the opportunity to meet these incredible individuals and hear their stories. Their resilience is inspiring, but they still lack basic necessities and support. We must come together to bring about change for these communities. I need your help, your ideas, and your voice to bring hope to them.”
In an interview with Independent Urdu, Qamar reflected on her visit to Karachi, where she met young girls and women.
She praised UNICEF’s work in providing education and medical care but stressed the urgent need for clean water and a safer environment.
She called on her fellow Pakistanis to unite and contribute to this cause, emphasizing that collective efforts can make a significant impact.
The Pagal Khaana star shared a touching story about a girl named Anam, who was preparing for marriage.
Qamar was moved by the passion in her eyes and applauded UNICEF’s role in educating children about important issues like health, safety, and personal boundaries.
While Qamar acknowledged the progress being made, she noted that many parts of Pakistan still need assistance. “I’ve seen girls with incredible confidence, ready to bring about change. Educating just one child can transform a society. The progress I witnessed in Sujawal shows how powerful education and awareness can be,” she concluded.
