The Supreme Court of Pakistan rejected a petition filed against the 26th Constitutional Amendment following the decision to withdraw the petition.
The three-member bench, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, heard the appeal against the Registrar’s Office objections concerning the amendment.
Advocate Hamid Khan presented the petition to the Supreme Court. Hamid informed the court that they wished to withdraw the application.
Chief Justice Isa inquired whether the petitioners asked Hamid Khan to withdraw the case. Noting, that advocate Mr. Zuberi could have made the request himself.
Advocate Hamid clarified that he is acting on behalf of the petitioners.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan officially dismissed the petition after the confirmed withdrawal request.
During the proceedings, Chief Justice Isa also mentioned another pending request by Mr. Zuberi, which had not yet been scheduled for a hearing.
The 26th Constitutional Amendment, which had stirred some legal challenges, will now move forward without further obstruction from this case.
