Afghanistan did not get an invitation from the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), hence it will not be attending the forthcoming summit, which is scheduled for October 15 and 16 in Islamabad.
According to information obtained by the opinion, Afghanistan will not be attending the summit since the SCO Secretariat did not send out invitations to the nation.
Afghanistan is now classed as an observer country rather than a full member of the organization, and this decision further emphasizes this position.
As per the diplomatic sources, Afghanistan has not been a member of the SCO since September 2021. On June 7, 2012, the nation was granted observer status in the SCO; however, since then, it has not participated in any official capacities.
Pakistan, the summit’s host nation, is anticipated to receive over 200 delegations and leaders from other countries.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan depends on the SCO-Afghan agreement being recognized, since reports suggest that the Taliban-led government in that country has not complied with several of the pact’s terms.
Mongolia, as an observer state, has been invited to the summit, unlike Afghanistan.
The SCO’s continued goal is to promote security and cooperation in the area, and a sizable turnout is expected at the next conference.
