Israel, despite international calls for restraint, launched another airstrike on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of six civilians and leaving 46 others injured.
The Israeli military targeted a building in the heart of Beirut, close to the parliament, causing widespread devastation.
Several buildings collapsed into rubble, and explosions severely damaged vehicles as three loud blasts echoed through southern Beirut late into the night.
According to reports from British media, the Israeli army claimed that the building housed a medical center linked to Hezbollah, marking Israel’s first attack in central Beirut.
Additionally, Israeli forces carried out five more airstrikes on Wednesday night, targeting locations in Zahia.
International media reports indicate that over the past 24 hours, Israeli airstrikes have killed 46 Lebanese civilians and wounded 85 others across the country.
Meanwhile, Israel confirmed the deaths of eight of its soldiers in ground clashes with Hezbollah fighters in South Lebanon.
Reports indicate that ongoing battles have injured over 20 Israeli soldiers. Footage emerged showing Israeli soldiers fleeing while carrying the bodies of their fallen comrades.
Hezbollah also confirmed that its fighters engaged in intense ground battles with Israeli forces in Lebanon.
In a video message, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered condolences for the fallen soldiers, stating, “We are in the midst of a difficult war aimed at destroying us.” We are fighting a tough war against Iran.”
Tensions in the region escalated after Iran launched over 200 missiles at Israel on Tuesday, pushing the Middle East to the brink of a full-scale conflict.
Both Tel Aviv and Washington vowed to respond firmly to Tehran’s aggression.
Israeli strikes have also intensified in Gaza, with dozens of Palestinians, including children in schools and orphanages, killed in the ongoing bombardments.
Since the outbreak of violence on October 7 last year, Israeli attacks have killed more than 41,000 people and injured 96,000.
