Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suspended flights to Turkey. The stoppage is scheduled to last until at least October 13.
The decision to stop all flights on this vital route stems from unresolved payment concerns linked to stock and airport slots.
PIA offers four weekly flights to Turkey from Lahore and Islamabad.
This ban has a major effect on its overseas activities, which are already under stress due to persistent financial issues.
Travelers who had booked tickets to Turkey are advised to keep an eye out for updates from the airline on any changes to the itinerary or refund policies.
In a parallel action, PIA had earlier barred all aircraft from using Iranian airspace in the wake of missile attacks on Israel.
The airline is modifying its flight itineraries to avoid Iranian territory while the situation stabilizes, according to official directives.
PIA usually uses two routes over Iran: the northern one for flights to Turkey and Canada, and the southern one for flights to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Doha, and Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has increased airspace security in reaction to these events by issuing fresh directions to tighten monitoring on all planes arriving in Pakistani airspace from Afghanistan and Iran.
As long as officials continue to put aviation safety first, things will continue to change.
