According to two Syrian military officials who spoke to Reuters on Tuesday, Israel has attacked at least 3 anti-aircraft radar installations in southern Syria, one of which is located inside a military base.
Two radar sites, one located at an airfield nearby, were struck by the drone strikes west of Sweida.
One more struck a radar facility in the nearby province of Daraa. According to one of the reports, they are a component of the southern air defenses of the Syrian army.
As part of a “limited” ground operation, Israel announced that commando and paratroop forces conducted raids into Lebanon on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah claimed to have fired a flurry of missiles into Israel, hitting its espionage agency close to Tel Aviv.
Earlier, Israel has officially commenced the ground invasion of Lebanon, beginning with “limited” raids against Hezbollah positions in the border region.
The military announced “localized and targeted ground raids” against Hezbollah in southern Lebanese villages, citing an “immediate threat” to northern Israeli communities.
Israel’s air force and artillery have conducted “precise strikes” to support ground forces, with residents in Aita al-Shaab reporting intense shelling and the sounds of helicopters and drones.
Flares lit up the night sky over the border town of Rmeish, signaling increased military activity.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the next phase of operations along Lebanon’s southern border aims to return citizens who fled Hezbollah rocket attacks during ongoing hostilities.
