Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan called for a “alliance of humanity” to halt Israel, claiming that as long as the violence in Gaza persists, the principles of the Western world and the UN system are dying there.
Erdogan continued to criticize Israel’s military assault in the Gaza Strip and the Western nations who back Israel harshly during a speech at the UN General Assembly.
Erdogan claimed that in addition to the children in Gaza, other dying things include the UN system, the truth, the principles that the West purports to uphold, and humanity’s ambitions for a more equitable world.
Turkey, a member of NATO, has denounced Israel’s military operation in the Gaza Strip, which was launched in reprisal for the cross-border strike carried out by the Palestinian organization Hamas on October 7, 2017. Turkiye stopped trading with Israel and filed an application to the World Court to join a case alleging genocide against Israel.
Israel claims in court that its actions in Gaza are self-defense and are directed at the Hamas organization, which rules the territory, and has consistently rejected the genocide case as without merit.
“Those who are supposedly working for a truce continue to send weapons and munitions to Israel behind the stage, thereby that it can continue its atrocities. Erdogan declared, “This is insincere and inconsistent.”
Erdogan added that Turkey supports the Lebanese people as Israel launches airstrikes on Hezbollah fighters there.
