Anil Arora, the father of Bollywood actress Malaika Arora and her sister Amrita Arora, has recently passed away, according to Indian media reports.
It is currently reported that he died by suicide, but details are still emerging.
Anil Arora reportedly took his own life by jumping from a terrace early on Wednesday morning. The Mumbai Police are at the scene, and no suicide note has been found. Investigations are ongoing, and the exact circumstances surrounding his death are yet to be clarified.
The initial reports suggest that he did not have any health issue.
Actor and producer Arbaaz Khan, Malaika’s ex-husband, was seen visiting her family home in Mumbai following the incident. Police and media personnel have gathered outside the residence as the situation unfolds.
Malaika and Amrita Arora’s parents divorced when Malaika was just 11 years old.
After the separation, Malaika and her sister Amrita lived with their mother, Joyce Polycarp, in Chembur. Joyce Polycarp is a Malayali Christian while Anil Arora was a Punjabi Hindu from Fazilka, who worked in the Indian Merchant Navy.
In a past interview, Malaika talked about impact of her parents’ separation, stating that it taught her the importance of independence and a strong work ethic, which have been central to her life and career.
Amrita Arora has been married to businessman Shakeel Ladak since 2009, and they have two sons. Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan were married for 19 years before their separation in 2016 and final divorce in 2017.
Arbaaz Khan is now married to makeup artist Sshura Khan while Malaika was previously in a relationship with actor Arjun Kapoor, though recent reports suggest they have parted ways. Their son, Arhaan, was born in 2002.
