On Saturday, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and ex-cricketer Imran Khan said that the government appealed to him to postpone the rally of 22nd August .
He said the government had earlier requested him to delay the rally that is scheduled for August 22 and he agreed.
“I was assured that there would be no obstacles in the rally on 8th September. Yet, we are now getting reports that barriers are being set up to hinder the rally in Islamabad,” he said.
During a conversation with journalists at Adiala Jail, ex-PM claimed that the recent revival of NAB law’s amendments was national destruction.
He also termed it an “elite culture.”
Khan said, “A privileged group has had its debts amounting to billions written off.”
Imran Khan further called for major changes in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), suggesting that it should operate independently to ensure fair conduct.
“To achieve true independence and autonomy, NAB should be placed under the Supreme Judicial Council,” he emphasized.
Expressed frustration in the existing dispensation of justice, Khan emphasized that citizens in this country must be treated justly and equitably. “Justice is a must; we are not mere followers. We are human beings and have a right to be treated fairly.”
