Four Palestinian journalists have been recognized for their courageous reporting during Israel’s Gaza conflict with a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for 2024.
The candidates are:
1) Photojournalist – Motaz Azaiza
2) Tv reporter – Hind Khoudary
3) Journalist and activist – Bisan Owda
4) Senior journalist – Wael Al-Dahdouh
Their reporting has given the world important insights into the ongoing tragedies in Gaza, with Azaiza announcing his nomination on social media, voicing hope for peace in Palestine.
Prior to the conflict, Azaiza was recognized for portraying the daily life and aesthetics of Gaza, but he climbed to fame by photographing Palestinians’ wartime difficulties.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, Israel’s continuous assault on besieged Gaza has killed over 40,405 Palestinians and injured 93,356.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee got 285 nominations for the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize, comprising 196 people and 89 organisations representing a diverse range of peace advocates active in conflicts throughout the world, including Gaza and Ukraine.
The Nobel Peace Prize laureate will be revealed on October 11th, with the award ceremony slated for December 10th, maintaining the tradition of honoring people who work for peace and human rights under difficult conditions.
