The current heavy rain spell would continue in southern and central regions of Pakistan throughout the week.
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday predicted it on Tuesday.
The weather system drew the strong monsoon currents across country, with a particular emphasis on the southern regions.
A deep depression, currently positioned over northern Gujarat (India), will approach the adjacent areas of Pakistan. It will specifically eastern Sindh within the next 24 hours, as per weather forecast.
Besides it, a westerly wave will impact the northern parts of Pakistan from August 29.
This system will bring rains, accompanied by wind and thundershowers, says Met office. It predicted isolated heavy downpours in various regions. Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Lahore, Faisalabad and several others in Punjab will receive rains from August 27 to 31.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts like Chitral, Swat, Peshawar, and Dera Ismail Khan will experience rainfall with isolated heavy downpours from August 27 to 31. In Kashmir, areas such as Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, and others are likely to face similar weather conditions.
Weather forecast predicted wind, thundershowers and widespread rain in Sindh. Karachi, Hyderabad, and other key districts will experience the weather. Similarly, Balochistan districts will also witness heavy rainfall and thundershowers during the same period.
Gilgit-Baltistan will receive isolated heavy-fall, thunderstorm from August 27 to 31.
Threat of urban flooding
The potential impacts of rain in Pakistan included risk of urban flooding in low-lying areas of Pakistan.
The flash floods may take place in the local streams and hill torrents in Dera Ghazi Khan, Dadu, Kalat, and other areas.
Furthermore, Glacier Lake Outburst Floods (GLOF) might generate in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Urban flooding may affect Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad and Peshawar on specific dates. Murree, Mansehra and parts of Kashmir and other regions could face landslide. Sindh-Makran coast will likely experience coastal flooding.
Met office issued advisory to farmers, asking them to plan their activities as per weather condition. It also issued guidance for travellers and and tourists.
On the other hand, the fishermen in Sindh and Balochistan are recommended to avoid venturing into the open sea from August 27 to 31.
The relevant authorities have been directed to remain on high alert and take necessary precautions to prevent any adverse incidents during this period.
