Bangladesh team won the toss and decide to bowl first in the first Test against Pakistan which is being played at the Rawalpindi Stadium.
Due to the stadium’s damp outfield caused by overnight rain in the city, the game was delayed for many hours.
After tea, the final session will start at 4:40 pm, with a total of 48 overs to be bowled. To finish the overs, the play may be prolonged by 30 minutes beyond its scheduled conclusion time of 6 p.m.
With Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Khurram Shehzad, and Mohammad Ali in their bowling attack, Shan Masood’s team choose to go with an all-pace attack in the first Test at Rawalpindi.
This is the first of two matches in the World Test Championship (WTC) third cycle (2023–2025), which features nine teams competing.
Both teams are keen to impress and improve their standings on the WTC points table, with Pakistan now positioned sixth and Bangladesh in eighth place in the Test rankings.
So far, the Green Shirts and Bangladesh have faced off in 13 Test series matches, with the Green Shirts winning 12 of them and one ending in a draw.
It should be mentioned that due to stadium construction, the second Test was shifted from Karachi to Rawalpindi starting on August 30.
