Pak v Ban: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced on Saturday that spinner Abrar Ahmed and batter Kamran Ghulam will not play the first Test against Bangladesh team.
According to PCB, both players are free to play for Pakistan Shaheens against Bangladesh A in the second four-day encounter, which gets underway in Islamabad on August 20.
Because of the cloudy weather, selectors have decided not to include Abrar in the starting XI and instead will rely on a speed attack in the Rawalpindi Test.
Bangladesh’s main batsman Mahmudul Hasan Joy was also ruled out of the two-match series, which is a blow for the visitors as they get ready to play Pakistan in the first Test, according to a report published on Cricbuzz on Saturday.
Hasan couldn’t bat in the second innings of the four-day encounter against Pakistan Shaheens in Islamabad due to a groin injury he received while fielding.
The 23-year-old batsman scored 65 runs in the first inning against the Shaheens. He scored 65 and 69 runs in the four-day matches for the High-Performance Unit, and he appeared healthy going into the series.
BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury acknowledged to Cricbuzz, “We have received a mail concerning Mahmudul where it is stated that he suffered an injury to his right groin and as result of this, he is being rested for three weeks.”
Pakistan and Bangladesh are keen to perform and improve their standing on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table.
