Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Saturday directed all concerned departments to remain vigilant in light of the potential flood risk in rivers and streams throughout the province.
CM Maryam emphasized the importance of strictly following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to avert any mishaps as a result of the impending flood danger.
In a pre-emptive move, she ordered immediate precautions to be taken in the mountainous regions of Koh-e-Sulaiman, located in Dera Ghazi Khan.
Besides it, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that aid reaches residents of submerged low-lying areas across various districts without delay.
She also stressed the continuous monitoring of flood channels in cities such as Narowal, Sialkot, Shakargarh, and others to prevent the situation from worsening.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized the swift relocation of residents in flood-prone zones to relief camps and highlighted the need to protect livestock by moving them to safer areas in advance.
In areas affected by landslides, she instructed authorities to restore traffic flow as quickly as possible. She further urged deputy commissioners to closely oversee rescue and relief operations in their districts to ensure public safety.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of ensuring that vaccines for snake bites are available at all relief camps.
