The federal government has announced a reduction in petrol price by Rs8.47 per liter for the upcoming fortnight, attributed to a decline in global fuel prices.
The new petrol rate will drop from Rs269.43 to Rs260.96 per liter.
Additionally, high-speed diesel (HSD) prices have been lowered from Rs272.77 to Rs266.07 per liter, reflecting a decrease of Rs6.70.
This announcement, made by the Ministry of Information on Tuesday, provides significant relief to the public as the nation prepares to celebrate Independence Day on August 14, marking 77 years of freedom.
Previously, it was anticipated that petrol price and diesel prices would begin to fall from August 16.
Reports indicated that petrol prices were projected to decrease by Rs8.36 per liter, while diesel was expected to drop by Rs7.70 per liter.
In addition, light diesel was anticipated to become cheaper by Rs4.49 per liter, and kerosene oil was expected to see a reduction of Rs7.71 per liter.
