The Islamic month of Safar 1446 Hijri will begin on Wednesday, August 7, as the moon was not sighted anywhere in Pakistan.
Moon-sighting committees convened nationwide, including officials from the Meteorological Department and SUPARCO. Despite thorough observations, no moon sightings were reported by any zonal committee. Consequently, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, meeting in Lahore, declared that the Safar moon had not been sighted.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs announced that Tuesday, August 6, will be the 30th day of Muharram due to the lack of moon sightings.
