The bail application hearing for Amna Arooj, accused in a honey trap and extortion case involving well-known writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, has been rescheduled for August 6.
The anti-terrorism court in Lahore, presided over by Judge Arshad Javed, convened to address the charges against Arooj, who allegedly lured Qamar and demanded ransom. Qamar was present at the hearing.
Qamar informed the court that he had only recently learned about the bail application and requested additional time to secure legal representation. The court granted his request and postponed the proceedings.
Earlier, a controversial video featuring Qamar went viral on social media.
The police arrested the alleged ringleader, Hasan Shah, and his accomplice, Rafiq, both from Peshawar. Shah leads a twelve-member gang, including several women, implicated in the scheme.
In a recorded statement, Shah claimed that Qamar visited the woman’s residence with ulterior motives, not to discuss a script.
He asserted that the explicit video was part of a plot, and Qamar’s kidnapping claims arose from this situation. So far, twelve suspects, including Arooj, have been detained.
Qamar publicly clarified that the explicit video was part of a honey trap orchestrated by the criminal group. In an interview, he recounted being kidnapped and coerced at gunpoint to participate in the recording.
He described how he was forced to remove his shirt and pressured to engage in indecent acts, which he resisted.
“They made me remove my shirt,” Qamar recounted. “They demanded I engage in indecent acts.”
