Senior leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Dr. Yasmin Rashid, has been sent to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital due to a decline in her health.
The lawyer for Rashid, who is being held in the Kot Lakhpat Jail on judicial remand, stated that the court has repeatedly given written directives and requested that the authorities make sure she receives prompt medical treatment.
Advocate Rana Mudassar, however, claimed to local media that her health declined as a result of not receiving prompt medical treatment.
Mudassar continued, saying that after her cancer-related testing, the situation will be clear.
Local media was informed by sources at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital that Rashid, the former health minister of Punjab, has been admitted to the hospital for certain tests.
She’ll go through a number of exams. She is having difficulty breathing as well. Her next check-up will be in a government hospital, according to people with direct knowledge of the situation.
The 72-year-old PTI leader had previously become ill; in May, she fainted and was taken to Services Hospital in Lahore.
Yasmin has been imprisoned for more than a year on various counts pertaining to the widespread demonstrations and rioting that broke out on May 9, 2023, after PTI founder Imran Khan was arrested.
She was first taken into custody on May 12 under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, but she was later held once more on suspicion of involvement in the May 9 disturbances.
The founder of PTI and several other prominent figures have been imprisoned for almost a year. Numerous individuals are dealing with accusations mostly related to the May 9 demonstrations, which included attacks on governmental buildings, including as the Lahore Corps Commander House.
