Former President and Republican nominee for the US presidential race Donald Trump has politically won over President Joe Biden before the elections.
Trump’s success over Biden in the presidential debate last month led Democratic challenger face bitter criticism from within his party that ultimately lead to his withdrawal.
Biden’s quit gave a new strength to Trump who was already standing neck on neck with Biden and was relatively better in some key states such as Pennsylvania where last week he survived an assassination attempt. In his latest statement Trump said, “Biden goes down as the single worst president by far in the history of our country.” Meanwhile, Several Republicans connected Biden’s decision not to be able to run for his re-election and inability to govern until the end of his term early next year. They now have started arguing that Biden’s move is the evidence that he is not fit for office, and ask him to quit this office.
House Speaker Mike Johnson said, “If Joe Biden can’t run for re-election, then he is not even capable of serving as president for the next six months. He needs to resign now.” Biden plans to serve the remainder of his term in office, which ends on January 20, 2025. After announcing his withdrawal from the presidential race in November Biden said, “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. While I intended to seek re-election, I believe it is in the large interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”
“Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year,” he said in a post on X. “Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump,” he wrote on X. Trump commenting on this endorsement said, “Kamala Harris will be easier to defeat than Joe Biden.” Biden following his decision to end his campaign endorsed Harris as the Democratic Party nominee which she accepted with pleasure. Former President Barack Obama praised President Biden’s decision but called Harris the poor choice. He said,” The things will get more adverse in the coming times as Kamala Harris would prove worse than Biden.” Donald Trump who last week survived an assassination attempt is happy over Kamala’s potential nomination, believing it would be now much easier for him to defeat her.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis could be a possible challenger to Harris’ nomination. West Virginia Senator Manchin, who left the Democratic Party earlier this year to become an independent, said he was considering re-registering with the party to challenge Harris for the ticket. Manchin was one of the most conservative Democrats in Congress before his departure. Meena Bose, a professor of political science at Hofstra University said, “It is risky to change candidates so close to the elections. A late change is not ideal but may bring more optimism than no change at all, or at the very least might potentially be helpful down the ballot, if not in the presidential race,” Bose said. Kondik said Biden’s endorsement makes a big difference. The president has the support of the overwhelming majority of delegates. And while they are not bound to back Harris. The US Campaign for Palestinian Rights Action says the US president will be remembered for his support for the Israeli “genocide” in Gaza. “It was not Biden’s failed debate that showed he is unfit to lead. It was the tens of thousands of bombs he sent to kill Palestinian families,” the group said in a statement. “It was his callous, dystopian disregard for Palestinian lives.” It is important to note that earlier President Biden couldn’t win much support for the dinners and funders of the election. The Democrat’s potential nominee will have to face many challenges in this regard. Trump’s skillful campaigning and victory in the presidential debate caused Biden to face much pressure and opposition from within his party. Even on the legal battlefield, Trump was resecured by the Supreme Court over his actions as President of the United States. These actions were granted immunity. Trump’s defeat in New York counts felony could not help Biden to damage his repute.
A failed assassination attempt on Trump also politically benefited him to gain some more public support. His criticism regardless of its being right or wrong worked and the Democrats put their hands back from Biden. Last but not the least is that replacing the candidate in fact speaks of the differences between the ranks and files of the democrats. These differences will further be beneficial for Mr. Trump. Former President Barack Obama praised President Biden’s decision but called Kamala Harris as the poor choice for Americans.
He said,” The things will get more adverse in the coming times as Kamala Harris would prove worse than Biden in terms of performance.” Meanwhile, former President and US presidential race 2024 runner Donald Trump who last week survived an assassination attempt is happy over Kamala’s potential nomination. Will Kamala Haris be able to win her parties nomination next month is a question that still remains. All these weaknesses on the side of Democrats may prove beneficial for Trump to beat his challenger.
