The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to provide fast bowler Naseem Shah the No Objection Certificate to participate in The Hundred cricket competition due to workload management.
Naseem Shah will lose almost Rs 45 million as a result, as the Birmingham Phoenix squad paid him £125,000 to recruit him.
The sources said that after examining the Pakistani cricketer’s application for the NOC, the decision was made as a precautionary step in front of the World Test Championship’s pivotal matches.
They said that because he represents his country in all three forms of cricket and had some fitness issues the previous year, his application has been rejected in order to keep him safe from injury.
In October 2023, Naseem had a successful operation to fix his shoulder issues. He was then declared ineligible for the 2023 ICC World Cup.
Following that, medical professionals recommended that the young player take a four- to six-week break and get therapy before returning to the field. He was out for a minimum of three to four months due to this injury.
During Pakistan’s second Asia Cup 2023 match against India in September 2023, the pacer left the field in the 46th over due to an injury sustained on the game’s designated reserve day. The PCB announced shortly after that the right-armer will not be competing in the next stages of the competition.
He had strained a muscle directly behind his shoulder during bowling.
