Following their humiliating early elimination from the current T20 World Cup 2024, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to reassess central contracts.
Players with bad performances are anticipated to be degraded with reference to their central contracts in the first phase, according to sources, following late-night meetings led by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and the board officials.
Meanwhile, reliable sources said that a number of players are probably going to lose their central contracts entirely.
This situation occurs when the Green Shirts, who had lost their opening two games against the new American entrant and India’s fierce opponents, were knocked out of the current big event and did not even make it to the Super Eight round of the competition.
Pakistan’s chances of advancing in the competition were dashed after the US and Ireland match was called off on Friday owing to rain. The co-hosts ended up with one point.
The national team’s match against Ireland in the league will only be a formality, and they will then head home.
Pakistan has been eliminated in the league phase of the event for the third time in its history.
The board is anticipated to make major changes to the team, according to a previous report. Players like Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, Iftikhar Ahmed, Azam Khan, and Usman Khan are predicted to struggle to hold down their positions on the national team in the future.
