The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called for publication of Hamoodur Rahman Commission Report, doubling down its stance of Dhaka Fall tragedy.
The PTI core committee has made the call and issued a statement, following the meeting. The development appeared after days of criticism by the ruling parties on PTI founder chairman Imran Khan’s post on X. Khan’s post on May 26 held the military dictator responsible for breaking of Pakistan, comparing events of 70s with the current situation. PTI leader Barrister Gohar later said post published without the consent of the jailed former premier Imran Khan. The Federal Investigation Agency later initiated an inquiry into the post, issuing notice to Khan. But Imran Khan refused to join the investigation.
In the statement, the PTI rejected the investigation and demanded the publication of HRC report. It said the legal team of the PTI is preparing the defence.
“The PTI has considered and rejected the FIA’s investigation as unjustified,” read the statement.
It added: “In the light of the notice issued by the FIA, the legal team has been entrusted with the preparation of a detailed legal strategy regarding the social media post.” .
“The collapse of East Pakistan is the greatest tragedy in our national history, whose causes and motivations of which are political in every respect. The HRC appointed by the government of Pakistan has mentioned these factors in detail in its report.”
The PTI further stated that the party had sent a sincere message to today’s state decision-makers to return to constitutional bounds and learn from history.
