Pakistan and Kuwait have decided to sign a $25 million loan deal for the Mohmand Dam on June 3, 2024, with the Kuwait Fund providing assistance for Pakistan’s involvement in the Arab Coordination Group’s funding of the Diamer Bhasha Dam.
Additionally, the Fund stated that it would be willing to take the Pakistani government’s request for funding for the Kachhi Canal project into consideration.
The 5th Session of the Pakistan-Kuwait Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) held in Kuwait from May 28–30, 2024, according to an official statement released by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. This represents a major advancement in deepening bilateral relations between the two countries.
The undersecretary of the Ministry of Trade & Industry, Ziad Abdullah Al-Najem, greeted the team from Pakistan with great warmth and emphasised the importance of the meeting for the advancement of bilateral ties. The Pakistani federal minister for communication, privatization, and the board of investment, Abdul Aleem Khan, expressed his satisfaction with the holding of the fifth session of the Pakistan-Kuwait Joint Ministerial Commission and outlined the main topics of the two countries’ bilateral talks.
In light of Pakistan’s large pool of highly qualified professionals in a variety of fields, Khan emphasized the importance of the private sector’s involvement in fostering economic ties and urged Kuwait to expedite the visa application process for Pakistanis. He listed important industries ready for investment and invited Kuwaiti businessmen to take advantage of Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council.
