Ahmad Farhad, the missing Kashmiri poet, is in the custody of Azad Kashmir police, Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) informed the the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday.
Farhad, he told the IHC senior puisne judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, was in the custody of Dhirkot police in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
The development came as Justice Kayani resumed the hearing a petition seeking recovery of Ahmad Farhad. Justice Kayani had directed for the live streaming of all missing persons cases, summoning the law minister, officials of intelligence agencies, secretaries of defence and law ministries during the last hearing..
However, the hearing did not go live today and neither the officials from ISI, IB, and MA appeared before the court. Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan, Additional Attorney General (AAG) Munawar Iqbal Duggal, and the law minister appeared before the court in defence of the state while senior journalist Hamid Mir and lawyer of Ahmad Farhad Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir also attended the proceedings.
The AGP presented the police report to Justice Kayani regarding the arrest of Farhad. The report stated that Farhad was arrested by the Dhirkot police on Wednesday and an FIR was registered at around 8am under the Pakistan Penal Code section 186.
