Federal government has rejected the rumours and reports regarding change in solar net-metering. Energy minister Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari said there was no plan to scrap the ent-metering.
Millions of consumers have installed solar panels and they are selling their extra units to the power distribution companies, resulting less consumption of power from national grid and reduction in the government revenue. The reports, meanwhile, emerged that the government was planning to change the net-metering policy.
But, the federal minister during a visit to the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) head office in Lahore, has rejected the reports.
He said the government would rather encourage the shift to solar power. He said the policy was introduced during the tenure of Nawaz Sharif.
The minister said the PML-N was “proud” of the scheme as “a large number of people benefitted from it”.
