On late night Friday, local men in Kyrgyzstan capital Bishkek, have attacked foreign students injuring dozens including five Pakistanis.
Reports stated that the mob entered hostels of medical students, breaking windows, glasses of their rooms and damaging their belongings.
Many among injured includes female students from Egypt, Bangladesh and India. Kyrgyz police stated some 29 students received injuries in clashes. Pakistan embassy officials say five Pakistani students received minor injuries and they were treated and discharged from hospital.
International media reports said that it was a continuation of the clash between Kyrgyz and Egyptian students.
Kyrgyz media reported that clash between Kyrgyz and Egyptian students was reported on May 13. However, on Saturday morning, local mob gathered in front of foreign student hostels and started attacking them.
Pakistan’s embassy in Kyrgyzstan reported light injuries to number of Pakistani students, saying there were no death in the incident. Police said the situation is under control.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has sent Kashmir Affair Minister Amir Muqam to Bishkek, saying the government will ensure full protection to the students. Pakistan embassy has also established an emergency line to facilitate the students and their families in Pakistan.
