During a high-level meeting with Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) officials last month, the chief minister approved the start of a free WiFi pilot project in Lahore.
Media sources state that the PIBT is also in charge of re-establishing the current infrastructure, which includes hotspots.
The project intends to offer free WiFi in a number of public locations.
Additionally, CM Maryam has instructed the authorities of the IT department to begin the service, ideally in bus stops, airports, train stations, and educational institutions.
So, overall there will be 516 places in Lahore where free WiFi is available.
