Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) opted the names of Australian Jason Gillespie and South Africa’s Gary Kirsten as the men’s national team coaches.
Media reports revealed that the board has chosen Kirsten to be the White-ball coach and Gillespie to be the Red-ball coach for the Green Shirts.
Following the conclusion of legalities, the cricket board will make an official declaration in this respect. The PCB posted job openings on its website and accepted applications through April 15.
The choice was made in advance of the next Twenty20 International Series against New Zealand, which is scheduled to start on April 18.
The T20 World Cup, which takes place in the United States and the West Indies in June, is the Pakistan cricket team’s next significant assignment.
Following a change in the PCB in November 2023, Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick had their portfolios reorganized and were relocated to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, leaving the aforementioned positions vacant.
All three of them resigned from their jobs in January of this year.
Bradburn was appointed head coach of the Pakistan national men’s team earlier this year, while Arthur was made director of the country’s men’s cricket squad in April 2023. Puttick, a former cricket player for South Africa, has been employed as a batting coach from April 2023.
