Around 200 bodies have been retrieved from the debris of buildings destroyed by Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.
Meanwhile, the United Nations has cautioned that clearing unexploded ordnance in the region could take a minimum of 10 years.
According to the Qatari broadcaster “Al Jazeera”, the work of extracting bodies from the rubble by the Gaza Civil Defense Department and medical personnel has been ongoing since the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.
Gaza Civil Defense Chief Mohammed Bassil said that rescue operations are facing severe difficulties due to the destruction of heavy machinery by Israel and the lack of human resources.
Mohammed Bassil revealed that the bodies of about 10,000 Palestinian martyrs are still buried under the rubble, which have not been able to be removed and buried.
According to the United Nations, a huge amount of $500 million will be needed to clear the explosives contained in the 42 million tons of rubble.
As reported, 50 million tons of rubble have accumulated in Gaza as a result of the war, which could take 21 years to clear, and it will cost $1.2 billion. Meanwhile, humanitarian aid is continuing to be provided after the ceasefire.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 808 aid trucks entered Gaza on the fourth day of the ceasefire, which was made possible with the cooperation of the United States, Egypt, and Qatar.
The recovery of Gaza requires international cooperation and urgent measures to help the victims and repopulate the area.
