Punjab CTD and Dera Ghazi Khan police carried out a joint operation, killing two terrorists, as per told by Punjab Police’s spokesperson, on Tuesday.
The terrorists attacked the police with heavy weapons And were met with a powerful response at Kotani Tal, Thana Vahowa.
The terrorists aimed to execute attacks on the police stations and several sensitive sites in Punjab. There were intelligence reports indicating terrorists’ movements close to the Punjab-KP border.
The police were already on high alert and carried out a successful operation. The terrorists possessed hand grenades, rocket launchers and other heavy modern arms.
Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar applauded the CTD and DG Khan police for carrying out a successful operation against the terrorists.
In Sohrab Goth, Karachi, three suspected TTP militants were taken into custody by the Sindh CTD in October.
The TTP claimed responsibility for the shooting at the police in Sohrab Goth earlier in June, which resulted in the deaths of PC Muhammad Yasin and PC Salman Abbas.
In October, the Punjab CTD conducted 129 intelligence-based operations and apprehended seven terrorists.
Pakistan has recently witnessed a hike in attempts against the Law enforcement agencies. Most of the terror-based activities happened in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Attacks intensified after the TTP threatened to target security personnel. TTP violated a precarious ceasefire agreement with the government in 2022.
