More than 100 Pakistani traders and freight vehicles are stuck in the China border. The attempt to make the Pakistan-China border all-season also failed.
The border pass period for the traders stuck in China expired yesterday. There is no arrangement to clear snow from the Karakoram Highway at Khunjerab Top, located 15,000 feet above sea level, due to which vehicles are facing immense difficulties in movement.
China has announced to keep the Pak-China border open throughout the year, but due to the lack of snow removal from the Karakoram Highway and other facilities within Pakistan, it is not possible to keep the border open in winter.
Previously, trade through the high-altitude Khunjerab Pass between Pakistan and China has been halted for the seventh day in a row. Traders in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) have criticized the federal government for continuing to collect taxes on imports from China, despite a court order in GB banning such taxes.
